Gem External Oil Boilers - Are they any good?

Finally getting round to replacing my old girl, and was wondering if anybody has heard of these.

According to sedbuk table, they're all A rated, but what are they like for spares/servicing etc?

Not seen or heard anything good about GEM. Used to be Gerkros boilers who went bust but they were no better either.
I usually fit Grant boilers and have found them as good as any. Mistral are ok and HRM so long as it's one with the stainless steel condensing heat exchanger. I also service a number of Warmflow boilers which seem pretty good too.
Avoid worcester as PITA to service/repair.
Another popular boiler round here is Firebird. The heat only ones are ok but the combi's are c**p.
Only my opinion though, Stix.

We currently fit Worcester-Bosch, but have also used Grant, both are good boilers. Never come across Gem

If you fit WB by choice you must be on drugs.
Or do you just install?

The boss does all the servicing, presumably doesn't have too much trouble with them or he wouldn't use them, the rest of us just install. A few complain they're a pain, I personally can't see the problem, bit of a squeeze sometimes but nothing too onerous. The internal condense trap is a recent welcome improvement.

At least the baffles don't get stuck on Worcesters.

They are a bit of a pain but time will show which lasts longest. I don't think we should select boilers on the basis of ease of installation and servicing alone. For most customers, longevity and customer service are more important and I don't think Grant have anything over Worcester in this regard.

NB: I fit both, just trying to be fair.
