Ex council house bought about 5-6 yrs ago, very very cheap.+council discount of about 50%.

So you are lecturing people not to live beyond their means, whilst getting a massively subsidised house.

They seem to have based their average on these figures from the article..

Detached - £343,105
Semi-detached - £209,098
Terrace - £209,808
Flat - £245,533

Looks like London prices. Extremely high. So I think their way out.
Would need an article from the mail to see the truth.
