Give Boris Some Credit

Sadly Johnson and this government won by their ability to campaign, they did not win based on their ability to govern.

At a time like this we need clarity, leadership and honesty.

Instead we get Hancock fiddling the figures to get to 100,000 at the end of April and lots of 'number theatre' like 1 billion pieces of PPE.

I can accept that whoever is in government there would be mistakes, there would be lots of deaths, what I cant accept is a government smugly treating the public like fools and not being honest.

This government would have much more public support if they admitted they got things wrong
Your bias and hatred is silly Notch...and your grasping at anything and everything to run down Boris..

Notchy is as predictable as the sunrise, blaming any bad news forever on Boris.

That is sadly lacking with many, jumping to conclusions.Far too early to make end conclusions about the Rona.

Spoken like a believer after your fourth s hit sandwich.

So you cannot make predicitons about Brexit, nor Corona but you knew what with exacting detail it would be worse under Labour / Corbyn.

You do spout some rubbish DP.

Only credit Boris deserves is Universal credit after he has had a back to work assessment from IDS.

Truth hurts GAL...

'Sunlit uplands' is also a metaphor, as is 'beat the enemy', or 'win the fight'.
One (of the four) exists, the others don't.

Where is your "Kilmacduagh" then, in terms of....
.........when you have managed to FUBAR the situation, be honest, admit your incompetence, and relinquish the reins to more competent people.

To what "Kilmacduagh" will these more competent people guide us all towards?

.A govt that relies on minority appeal policies will not be governing long. You are starting off from a vague viewpoint that whatever mess we are in is entirely the fault of the govt,,THAT my friend is the first of many assumptions people will disagree on not to mention, the best path to progress.
A leader who surrounds himself with sycophants, and systematically removes dissenters is also bound to fail.

There is one of the major differences between UK government and private industry.
In private industry, the decision makers are often there for the duration, and are not appointed by the MD. Thus the decision-making body will be comprised of a fair cross-section of sycophants, dissenters, even ambivalent people. The mix and 'tribalism' will change with each major decision.
In UK government, and even more so in cabinet, the leader surrounds himself with like-minded people and dismisses dissenters.
This happened recently in the whole Conservative party.
Now one can fully appreciate that anyone in a party that disagreed with their core values ought to be removed.
So when the dissenters on Brexit were removed, one can only assume it was because they disagreed with the core values of the Tory party.
Does that mean that the Tory party had morphed into the Brexit party? It looks like it.

I would have thought that was obvious, it was a goal to be achieved, an ambition to be realised. The ability to achieve a goal depends enormously on the starting position. If you are in a worse position than you could have been, you are far less likely to achieve that goal.
Perhaps my previous comment might explain the situation a little more, as far as the 'leader surrounding himself with sycophants' is concerned.
