Hi.

I have two dimmer switches and a fixed 2way switch in a 3 gang switch and would like to replace the two dimmers with the same fixed switch unit. These are Hamilton gridit two-way rocker modules to replace the Hamilton dimmers. As you can see in the images, the current signal switch to the right is a two-way. However, the dimmers (center and left) seem to have more wires than I was expecting, and there are no other dimmers or switches that are controlling this lighting circuit. They are two-way.

Can anyone advise how I can replace the left and center dimmer units using a two-way switch module identical to the switch on the right of the images? The earth wires are fixed to the faceplate.

Some electronic units come as pairs, others can use a simple two-way switch as the second unit, I have failed to find that switch instructions with an internet hunt.

From pictures, it seems to be simple on/off with dimmer switches, with no wires into S, so not really sure what the problem is?

Apologies, i should have been more specific. The dimmers have three wires, two go into L which i presume is the same as a COM on the rocker. The other single wire goes into L1. However, what has thrown me is the red wires also going into the L.

I thought I would have three single inputs similar to the rocker switch, not two wires into a single input.

I'm not sure what you wish to do, those 2 dimmers are being used as one way, in other words there doesn't appear to be anything else controlling those 2 lights.

If you wish to replace them with switches modules: place the existing red & brown from "L" into "COM" for each switch and the wire from "L1" into "L1"

EDIT: You replied whil I was making the image.
the existing red in com is permanent live coming in and the other red in com is the permanent live going out to the next switch and they are linked with the short brown piece.
Just maintain what's there.
It may be a good idea to mark the extreme left red with something so they don't get confused. Marker pen, tippex, tape etc

Thanks Sunray, yes effectively the dimmers are one way. I made a mistake here. The existing rocker is two way as i have another switch down the hall.

Thanks for the help, and also to erickmarc.

Are you sorted then? I was being careful, as my Energenie light switches in two-way mode, use a master and slave system. Never seen slaves for sale without buying master as well.

I have seen electronic switches using just two wires master to slave, but it seems in your case it is a simple single dimmer switch, so wires to Com and either L1 or L2, swapping L1 and L2 will swap off being up or down, but either will work.

Hi, yes, i think with Sunrays comments i am okay and understand the circuit better. Yes, its a simple single dimmer.
