You were subjected to verbal abuse at an age where you were too young to defend yourself or even to understand what was happening but over the years and outside your awareness you became more practiced and skillful in these mind games - head games so that now you can hold your own against any comer?

Should I repeat that? :D

No! Tell us how you built up your property portfolio.

Even by my standards that is a strange post.

Nobody here became an expert over time without even knowing it?
Nobody here assumes that everyone knows what you know?

I'll give this a try, Mr. P
Speaking as a teacher for 35 years at a fairly 'challenging' comprehensive school, I had to deal with all sorts.....
Very angry parent storms in, with every intention of kicking my head in.
With my skills at diffusing situations, at the end of the 'meeting' he was shaking my hand and telling me I was a top bloke.
Done this more times than I care to remember!
John :D

In general, how did you do that? Did you learn that on the job?

With a school like mine, classroom skills had to be learnt very quickly or you'd go under.....many of the kids were as hard as nails and stemmed from criminal families in some cases.
One thing I quickly learnt was that I could always out think these oiks and once they realised I was a regular guy there wasn't any real bother.
As I became boss man I had to deal with problems brought on by the staff that worked for me - that meant I had to think even quicker!
To this day I still bump into ex pupils, and I always get a very sincere greeting.....to me, teaching is (was, maybe) the best job in the world, bar none.
John :)

We know who you really are! ;)

You did well.

My wife was a teacher at a top-rated school.
Some teachers would help students cheat, the principal tampered with evidence (hid it) that would implicate a student in credit card fraud, three of the students hired an escort and used a baseball bat on her in a rather novel way (they are currently incarcerated), some of the parents were world class jerks, etc., etc..
The place made her sick and she left.
And the students drove way better cars than I ever owned.

Pred, I doubt it! :D
But I know who I am thanks to textbooks written about my personality type. :) And unfortunately those books are correct. :(
