There was a similar thing around in the 80s but i never see them I think they were yellow and you squeezed them on with pliers i think, once they were on using normal glands, movement was restricted by the gland and the wires in the pot so I quess they were reasonably secure, the idea was time saving, at the same time Bicc pushed the fact you should use less clips too ,i think pyro sales were on the decline then due to faster fitting types of cable.

When you buy a new reel of pyro the ends are sealed with some sort of resin that is stuck fast and is an insulater and you would need to cut it off, i quess them plastic pots contain a similar thing, combined with the powder i cant see them twisting once shrunk on,
