there are 2 fuses on the pcb in the drop down panel marked f1 and f2,does anyone know what these protect, both have blown and boiler has lost its power

they protect the boiler...one goes on the live the other on the neutral

have a look around the diveter valve for any sign of leaks would be your best bet

Fusing the neutral, and particularly with the same value of fuse, can create a potentially hazardous situation if the neutral fuse blows.

The boiler appears dead but in reality is live!

ok thanks,is the diverter valve the black plastic box situated to the left of the boiler behind the drop down panel?

The black part is the diverter valve actuator.

Unclip it and if the inside end is wet then that will have blown the fuses.

The gland will have failed because the system was not power flushed and needs to be replaced before a new actuator is fitted.

You will be able to get DHW by disconnecting the actuator and replacing the fuses.

Manually pushing the pin will give heating too.

nice one,i can now see a couple of drips of water coming from the back of the actuator so i think thats it,thanks

You will only get heating and no dhw when the actuator motor is removed.
