Hi, we have moved into a new house, the garage is a long way from the house and has no electrics. I would like to fit a plug and also LED spotlights in the ceiling that I am going to make as there are just joists in the ceiling at the moment. There is a car ev charger there, we don't have an electric car but I do want to keep it for the future. It is this one - https://www.carcharger.co.uk/product/7kw-mode-3-type-1-tethered-solo-smart-ev-charger/

My question is, how to I get power from this cable to be able to power a socket, duel socket for a hoover, pressure washer etc, and then power to lights.

Before people say get an elecrician, we have bought a house to do up so are doing everything ourselves, not just to save money but also to learn so keen to learn myself.

To learn anything worthwhile takes time, a lot of it.
Learning about electrics is simple, it is just about twisting two bits of wire together.
To do it safely, that is something completely different.
Whether its Electrics, gas, water, medical, roofing, joinery, plastering, all building works and a whole host of other things too then it takes time to learn.
Each man should know his limitations.
You might be able to get help supervision on how to do things properly.
To do that you might be able to get someone to do that.

Get an Electrician

Preferably a good one who is prepared to supervise and teach you.

Post photos ( not too close up ) and give details of your consumer unit in the house and any electrical equipment already installed in the garage as a first step.

Your biggest issue is splitting the EV charger from your garage electrics as EV chargers need dedicated circuits and dedicated RCDs

So it’s not just a case of “tapping into”

I agree with all of the above

In the meantime some other advice is available depending on how accustomed you are to doing any electrical work?

Please bear in mind that to do what you plan will mean, at least, a small consumer unit in the outbuilding. The installation of this, plus the new circuits attached to it is NOTIFIABLE WORK.
This makes this project outside the scope of a DIYer. The Cost of raising a building notice with your LABC together (with respect) your level of understanding means it’s a non starter for you to do the job.
You need a registered and competent electrician. Checkout NAPIT and NICEIC for sparks in your area.

Some years back I powered up a shed 15m from the house, using buried wire armoured cable. Double socket and a light switch in the shed, quite straightforward. Supplied from an added RCD in the utility room, taken from an existing circuit. Never been any problem. Maybe more complicated at the supply end in your case, with the EV kit. You could get a sparky in for that, and ask him to check (for ££!) the whole thing.
Obvs you'll need to design it for the maximum load you'll be using.

Being sensible, I would put a 2 way metal CU into the garage. Metal one to future proof. Put it near the ev charger or where cables enter the garage.
It must have an RCD.
6A mcb for lights
16 or 20A for sockets.

Should you want to use the ev charger in the future you can talk to a spark. But no point paying money for one now.

Not sure I agree with this

Said existing EV circuit must have RCD protection already so adding more RCD or RCBOs isn’t necessary IMHO

Are there any outside sockets? In that case you could run an armoured cable from there to the shed, although you might need a fused connection unit depending on how everything is wired.

There are, it's about 30 metres to the garage so if needs be I will just tap into that. Was hoping that having the EV power cable to the garage already would mean some kind of RCD/breaker box connected to that and then the lights/new plug connected to their own fuse.

I am fitting a series of lights down the path coming from that outside plug which will end at the garage so can use where I am burying the cable to run another one to the garage and add a socket.

Then you need to figure out how the existing socket is connected, probably best to get an electrician to check. An electrician would probably be quite happy if you offered to do the digging and they‘d just have to lay the cable and connect it.

waste of time/money/effort/copper to put another cable in

Not sure I agree with this

Op has a decent EV install, if he digs a suitable trench then another cable could be added

That said I do think diy work like this with random internet advice does come with some risks
