Hi can anybody please help me......

the pressure was at zero on the boiler so i increased the pressure through the loop under the sink.... i was to slow to turn of the water and the pressure gauge went up to 3 flickered while making a strange noise then it went straight back down to zero while this was happening water was leaking out from a pipe outside the building... i tried increase the pressure again through the loop but now the gauge is not moving and it sounds like the water is going straight outside....
Please can anyone tell me what to do?

you prv has gone pop. (pressure reducingvalve)

the prv is designed to release excess pressure in the system if it goes above 3 bar. sounds like yours has got stuck open after releasing the pressure.

Oh thanks you would you happen to know how i can unstuck it?

pressure relief valve, sorry..!!

well first thing would be to find it.

what system do you have? the prv will etheir be on the pipe work in the airing cupboard, next to the boiler or in the boiler casing itself.

looks like this, try twisting the black knob on the top.

You'll probably need to get someone out to replace the PRV, but it's no easy job. On this carp boiler the PRV is located behind the back of the boiler on the lower right hand side.

If you are lucky you may be able to operate the red lever and clear debris on the valve seat by raising the pressure to a couple of bar and flushing the valve through....it may then reseal but unlikely.

Apart from the prv probably being knackered, it sounds like the expansion vessel is either lost the charge or is duff too.
Chances are, the boiler is also suffering from poor installation and lack of proper maintenance.

Depending on where the boiler is fitted the PRV might be iced up if its below zero there.
