I've just fitted a new pull cord switch in my bathroom after the original one I fitted 6 years ago packed up. Within 2 days of the new switch working without a problem, it's packed up, as the original did, I pulled the cord, all six Halogens came on for a split second, then all went off, I'm pretty sure it's the switch that is at fault again. I just wondered if it's coincidental that the new switch packed up within a couple of days, or might I have a more serious issue? I don't know if it makes any difference but I'm running six separate 12v transformers. I would appreciate any recommendations as to what I should try next.
Cheers
Paul

It could be coincidental but are you sure that you have wired the terminals correctly and are they tight?

After removing the pull switch is there any burn marks?

If you have a multi meter you can test the switch for continuity.

Thanks for getting back to me riveralt, I've just got the poss/neg coming from a junction box in the loft, and wired it exactly the same way as the old unit that came out. I've not checked the new switch for any noticeable marks, as I'm waiting for a bit of daylight tomorrow, I'll take a look and let you know...Thanks again.
