Hi all. Thanks for taking the time to read and advise.

I am in a new build and I want to change to hive thermostats upstairs and downstairs. I have a multi zone hive set. And understand that I need to wire in both receivers into the ESI esrtp6 double valve PSU (pictured below)

The original wiring circled in yellow shows the wires from the upstairs stat and downstairs stat going into RH , 0V and +V.

I plan to wire both single channel Hive receivers into these as per the second wiring picture whilst powering the Hive receivers into the L and N.

Firstly is this correct??

My second question is that I plan to use the existing wiring to my Hive Stats once I’ve removed the old ones. I believe this is optional.

In which case do I keep the wiring connected in the yellow circle in the first picture? Also when you open the Hive stat it only has two connections but three wires for the old stat. Picture 3. Which wires do I use?

Thanks for getting this far.

Can we try and clear something up first?
You mention Hive receivers, but the picture you show is from a (apparently second hand) Hive 'Wired' thermostat. These are battery powered stats that will connect to the existing wiring and don't use receivers.

Can you confirm that you have two Hive 'Wired' thermostats?
You may also have a Hive hub - this is what connects the Hive stats to the internet - it is not a single channel receiver.

Thank you. Ok pictures below. The stat in the picture is from my old house as they didn’t want it and I thought I could use again when I moved into this new build.

I took with me the hive hub and two hive stats. Circled in red are two single receivers that I thought I’d need so brought recently. Do I need them?

Thank you for your help.

If both your existing stats are the Hive 'Wired' stats, i.e. they are battery powered and have the two terminals shown in your first images; then no, you will not use the single channel receivers.

Amazing. So which two wires should I use? I take it just the brown and black from the original photos? Do it disconnect the grey or the one that is not used?

So O take it the stat receives the signal from the app which tells the control unit to open the valve?

Not quite - isolate the +5V brown wire. The ESI esrtp6 switches on 0V and RH, so connect the grey and black wires to the Hive.

Just to mention, it appears that the earth wire in the 3 core + earth cable is connected to the backbox behind the stat - however, it doesn't appear to be connected at the wiring centre; this is pretty bad form!

Ok Thank you. I plan to do it tomorrow and if it’s ok I’ll post a pic of what I’ve done for your approval and future posts.

If there is anyway I can buy you a drink for your help I’d like to. You have saved me a fair amount.
