How’s your luck with shares these days?

Im not interested in the battle.

But I wouldnt be moving my money from gold to shares. What you do is up to you.

what you mean is your comment was pish and you are a recent investor into gold in a rising market i would say investing for less than 10 years

I'm just giving you facts not bragging. If you find those distasteful, you have a problem founded in your ignorance.
The feeling is common, usually shrouded in jealousy and embarassment, in people who don't have a clue about it and think it's beyond them. I'm trying to tell you it isn't.

If you dissaprove of people who use money to make money, you have a problem with a lot of people who make the world go round.
I agree, it's a bit bonkers.
In his case it is though.

When Mrs Motties dad died about 20 years ago, her mum was annoyed to find that he had over £200k stashed away that she didn’t know about. They lived a frugal life. However, she didn’t/wouldn't change her ways and continued to live frugally. House was always cold in winter, the cold weather payment went straight into her saving’s ”They (the gas/electric companies) are not getting that" she would say. She lived on the cheapest food she could buy. She has dementia now and is in a care home costing around £75k a year. Her house is being sold next week and she has got hundreds and hundreds of thousands of pounds and if she lives to the same age as her brothers and sisters, it’ll all go in care fees. There’s others in the same home that don't have a pot to pìss in and they are being funded by the local authority. Looks like her frugality has all been for nothing.
It's a great point. However (and not saying you were one of them) I recall discussing on here the movement of my mum's money (at her suggestion) to avoid possible care home costs in later life and boy, you'd think I was satin himself going by some of the replies.

good, 104% tariff on China will fek up America good n proper

Twumps tariffs are going to be a very bad deal for the citizens of America
Good? You really are, at best, misinformed.

This is causing real concern for rich, poor and everyone between.

Investors come in all shapes, forms and monetary worth.

It's far from good, not for most.

The whole thing needs looking at. Those getting it for free should not get the same service as those paying. There will never be an incentive to be a net contributor if the net consumers get the same.

China already had 25%, so now it's 129%.

The only blessing is that Mrs Mottie and her sister had the relative 'luxury' of visiting different homes and choosing the one they thought best for her and if it turns out that it’s not meeting her needs in the future, they can just up sticks and move her somewhere else. Some of the places they visited smelled awful and in one place, more than half the residents had bruises or bandages on! The options are limited if you are not self funding.

Why do you have a long thread in the “hobbies” section? In A Diy forum

If you seriously wanted a debate about investing, there are plenty of investing forums where you will come across people who have a lot of knowledge on this.

And why are so many of your comments in there, to others so derogatory and rude?

The answer to all the above is because you are bragging

As are there plenty of anti state of Israel, anti Trump, anti Brexit, anti Tory and many other political forums if you seriously want to debate them ad nauseam. Why don't you take your own advice and give them a try?

It's called General Discussion, so it's admissible. It's domething I'm doing myself, not paying someone else to do.
It could go in General DIY.

You don't know............
Have you looked - no.
At least here there's a degree of moderaton.
Brokerage platforms are mostly "I bought Tesla. That's good, right?"
And why are so many of your comments in there, to others so derogatory and rude?
Only where someone is talking out of their rear end. That's why people are derogatory to you.
I'm polite but some people get too silly.

When the results are negative I say so. So it's the fact that generally they aren't, that gets to you? Ask yourself why?
When anyone asks for pointers, that all goes fine.
YOU are the only one being an a-hole. YOU said I wasn't getting the returns I claimed , in the same post that you said I hadn't made such claims. Then YOU pressed to find out what they were.

Agree, I don't see it coming out as good. He's secured a lot of inward investment from companies which may not have done so otherwise, who knows?
He's expecting all companies to build and employ in the USA but that would take years and there aren't the people.
With Vietnam for example there's nothing they can do to get tariffs reduced.
Hard to see where it's all going.

I'll watch with interest over the next couple of days, if things keep trending downwards I'll be pulling every penny from my S&S ISA for now.
