Quite an unusual setup. Vaillant ecotec 837 combi, Drayton LP241, and a 2-port valve.

Basically, the 2-port valve has been plumbed in, just after the first rad in the system which is in a drying room (fitted with TRV turned up to maximum). The idea being that when this valve is shut, the only rad operating will be the one in the drying room (when the heating is not needed on but the laundry needs drying).

The two 'zones' obviously won't work independently of each other because we're only using one 2-port valve. So, it will be either, every rad working (including drying room)(power to valve to open it), or just the rad in the drying room working (no power to valve to close it).

Using a dual channel programmer (LP241) and have wired up like this so far:

FUSED 3 AMP POWER
L- 1 (Terminal on junction box/centre)
N- 2
E- 3
PROGRAMMER
N- 2
L- 1
HW OFF- N/A
CH OFF- 4
HW ON- N/A
CH ON- 5
BOILER
L- 1
N- 2
E- 3
3- 4
4- 5
5- N/A
2- PORT VALVE
BROWN- ?
BLUE ?
GREY- ?
ORANGE- ?
GREEN/YELLOW- 3

Where do the wires from the valve go? Many thanks in advance for any help on this!!!

start with

power to boiler and timer LNE

from 3 on boiler connect live to timer terminal 1 (this is based on a voltage free timer) (it wont work on a timer needing a live connection between L and term 1 this would be unsuitable)

and then terminal 4 to room stat common

from C/h room stat calling wire to valve ( wire brown & grey together)

from bathroom room stat calling wire back to boiler term 4

from valve orange wire to 4 on boiler

then connect all your Negs together
then repeat with all your earths

you do not need a wire on Hot water Off

The biggest problem you are going to have other than it won't work, is you will have to invent some sort of changeover relay, to operate the boiler and pump, when the heating mode is off.

What you could/should have done, is used a 3port flow share valve and run the odd rad from port B, with its own room stat.

Have done a similar installation to allow heating to bathroom independently of rest of house to allow for summer warm towels, using two 2-port valves, a dual channel programmer and two stats (one for house and wireless for bathroom due to bathroom electrical zoning requirements)

Impressed with the speed of replies!

Forgot to say that there are TRV's on all the rads, and NO Room stats at present. If there is a way to make this work without a room stat or stats, brilliant. If not, it's not a problem to wire some in

Also, yes, the LP241 programmer is volt-free

Where does the Bathroom stat get it's common

There is also the possibility that the common T4 at the boiler could hold the MV open
