* People need to wise up. IHT is a whole other thread, so leave that. But ask this: "What use is my house TO ME if I am near the end of life, and need 24 hour care? £1500 a week is a scandal, but leave that also for now. If you have a £500k house, that will cover 6 years ish. That's a great deal, with inflation and rising fees covered by the state, and no bills from day 1.
We need to shed the, "My Mum n Dad worked all their lives for what they have, nobody should take their home." line, cos it translates to, "Somebody should pay (not me though); and my inheritance should be for me alone".
Or, put 5% on all taxes except fuel, VAT and energy. Let's see how that one lands lol.
