I have a bog standard gas fire in a quite large v.old fire place;
Had passed it's corgi cert for the last 6 years, failed this time as the "void" front area is filled with a horse shoe shape of masterclad,which is OK, but the 2x2 baton frame that supports its is wrong as in theory it could dry up and cinder, i've talked to a few people who all say different things.
1. Clad the wood in masterclad, seal with heat proof silicone.
2. Cover wood in heat proof felt!
3. Brick in both sides to "flaunce", with a new mantel
4. Use metal brackets and a hammer drill to screw into breast.
Any more ideas welcome!!!
