i have just asked about this subject and seen this topic 
after reading your replys and opnion's i want to ask; if an impact works on little knocks while screwing and if that is correct then surely putting a regular 18v on hammer and screwing should be the same or have a similar effect??
it maybe a stupid theory , that's what i thought tho.

the impact starts as quick as a normal drill on highspeed and as the load increases it slows down and turns more into a rotary impact so slower speed but greater power
hammer action is nothing like impact as one is rotary [circular] and the other is back and forth
there is no comparason its like comparing a lada sprint with a formula 1
