there are two reasons for leaving one radiator without a TRV.
- TRV's and roomstats fight each other. If you have a room stat, do not fit a TRV to the radiator(s) in that room.
- (on a two pipe system) if all TRVs shut (due to it being toasty warm), and every rad has a TRV, you have in effect got a big blockage and the CH pump is trying to push water against a brick wall. This isn't so good for the pump, and, the boiler (particularly if it's old tech) may overheat or even boil the small amount of water in the heat exchanger.
Most modern boilers have automatic bypass valves built in, which open enough to let some water move around and thus not kill the boiler. You can also buy ABV's and fit them elsewhere.
