Intergas Boiler Service

Hi Razor, would you recommend Intergas Boilers, i hadn't heard of them before I moved into my house 5yrs ago and my daughter's house had one when she moved in 12mths ago? They must still be popular with some installation companies.

The boilers are great it's the company that's the issue. Your daughters boiler should last the thick end of 15 to 20 years with proper maintenance but what with the current customer service and doubt over their long term future in the UK I would struggle to recommend one unless you have a fitter who is extremely familiar with the brand

You won't get that across brands.

I would ditch the BG contract right away. I dont agree they are the worst company but they dont have a great history with intergas boilers.

If you post a rough area we might be able to recommend someone who is familiar with the marque.

Hi Madrab, i had aanother engineer from British Gas yesterday to service my boiler.
After 20mins came down stairs and said all done and left without any comments and nothing in writing to say what he'd done and if he had changed the seals. I've always had paperwork before with comments on it.
My renewal for British gas homecare is due at the end of August and due to their incompetence I've cancelled my renewal.
I got a phone call from someone and asked me why i wasn't renewing and i told him. He then sent me the paperwork that didn't even say it was a boiler service. I've contacted British Gas and asked them to send the paperwork and work completed. I also noticed that both engineers that came used their own transport and not British Gas vans.
Sorry for the epilogue.

Maze like structure needs a special comb to clear the debris that is sitting at the bottom.
IG has a list of items that need attended at the service.
What is listed cannot be carried out in 15 minutes.
The bolts that hold the front are torqued in a sequence found in the manual. Also requires ceramic grease smear before bolts are fitted.
What you possibly got was a poke and hope ie an MOT

Had my intergas rapid+ serviced by intergas, they changed various seals, I think they did the heat exchanger one which is a huge o ring, size of a cushion!

The engineer mentioned that a prevous service hadn't replaced the seals. (plumber did it) Think intergas do a more through job personally.
From memory it was £100.

Blimey, times have changed. When I joined this forum, it was for advice for a new boiler. It was all Intergas, Intergas, Intergas. Only 4 moving parts. Can’t go wrong. It was all being pushed by someone called Dan something or other with a handful of loyal supporters/followers (Was he on a commission or something?) He was their God. According to them, Intergas was the best thing in boilers and if you didn’t get one, you were a fool. Nowdays, you hardly ever hear them mentioned except for complaints or problems!

Boiler is a great design
Was told the Intergas condenses during hot water demand.
When the guts of the boiler are looked at- very clever design

So the bottom line is;
When customers take a Homecare and breakdown policy including free boiler service, means you don't apparently get a service for free and takes trade away from Gas Engineers who do their job in a professional manner.
