Is it OK for heating pipes to be close/on plasterboard?

Boarding the old kitchen and the board will only just fit behind the heating pipes - I am not bothered about how it looks, or if bit behind is not skimmed, just if it is OK like that? I can't think of a reason not to, but then, that's why I thought I'd better ask!

Might make a noise when expanding/contracting but won't do any harm.
 
Thanks, can handle a bit of noise, is in hall away from bedrooms.
