Is my screeded floor insulated??

Morning

I have a screeded floor in my downstairs 1990 built house.

Im thinking of installing underfloor heating when an extension gets done later this year.

Does anyone know if there is an easy (ish) way of telling whether the floor has a layer of insulation within it? Not sure what the regs were in the late 80s/ early 90s.

When did building regs change to require insulation on solid floors?

You could drill down through the screed and then concrete, to see what the drill finds.

More significant would the actual make up of the floor, as that will determine what heating system would be suitable to fit.

Built after 1992 there should have been a bit of polystyrene underneath, not sure before then.
