That's something you often say when your hypocrisy or logic-free inconsistencies are exposed. It never works.
I am correct, what you said is whataboutery.

You are wrong.

No hypocrisy or inconsistencies.....other than those in your mind.

"Whataboutery", as you call it, is precisely the exposing of hypocrisy and inconsistency.

If you say that "A is bad" in one particular set of circumstances, but you quite happily accept A, or even perform A, in other like circumstances then of course you would want to try to dismiss that being pointed out.

If you're talking to me,
I am, yes - you can tell that by the fact that my post was immediately after yours and did not quote or name anybody else.

did I say I didn't?
No more than I suggested that you said that.

So if you do think they need to be killed, how little job satisfaction, or how much unhappiness do you think the people who do it ought to get from doing it?

And to you and Notch:
Getting pleasure from killing defenseless creatures? Everything is wrong with that.
Is getting pleasure from eating defenceless creatures OK?

I don't thinking 'getting pleasure' for killing creatures is something to be proud of. Do you think hunting for pleasure is ok then? What about game hunting? All those beautiful lions, elephants, doing nothing wrong, just being killed for someone's kicks? Same mental attitude, just different creature.

And please don't presume anything about me. I've not eaten any meat or fish for nearly 40 years. Can't stand the stuff.

Not if you're not doing it for food (not necessarily your own).

And why do you assume that the pleasure is in the actual taking of the life, rather than the skilful execution of the process? If it were the former you wouldn't have pheasants being released and beaters, you'd just have them in cages where people could take that pleasure much more effectively.

I wasn't presuming, I was asking questions.

Oh look more whataboutery.
Oh look - more attempting to divert attention from your hypocrisy and/or illogicality.

If we consider these 5 stages:

  1. Raising an animal
  2. Slaughtering it
  3. Butchering it
  4. Cooking it
  5. Eating it

Which of those, in your world, are people allowed to enjoy, and why?

Feel free to be consistent and logical in your explanation.

Alternatively feel free to try your usual tactic of dismissing it as "whataboutery", and thus confirm that you know damn well that your position is riddled with hypocrisy and inconsistency.

Is the employee in the abattoir more or less likely to kill the animal straight off when compared to the sportsman in the woods with the rifle?

Yes, more likely...

However having worked in such establishments (home and abroad) to help fund travelling, I found that there were always some low lifes who actually enjoyed the act of the killing!

I think you were presuming because you thought you could then call me a hypocrite.

And..you need to ask Himmy, as it was his choice of words, and it was he I was replying to before you joined in. 'Getting pleasure' from killing animals is a strange strange way of looking at it.
what's wrong with people taking pride in and getting pleasure from their ability do do it?

Yes...

Thankyou. Yes, people who enjoy killing are indeed a low-life.

You'd hope the abattoir is more 'efficient' and at least, in most of the cases, the animal is already stunned. Killing for sport is disgusting.

From experience, the employee in the abbatoir is never likely to use his mates ****ty 22 rifle and have to finish the dear off with a knife....unless it's some sort of barbaric Hallal slaughterhouse thing going on.

You are the one determined to look at it strangely.

Would you say that a surgeon who took a pride in, and enjoyed, doing his job well was getting pleasure from cutting into his patients?
