when putting in kitchen cabinet lights I understand there is nothing wrong with linking a live feed across two switches but you still have to get my neutral from somewhere.

Could someone in the know or rather the trade give me examples were I can take the neutral from?

the neutral has to come from the lighting cuircuit

i think the neatest way (and i think i may have posted this before) is to replace the existing switch drop with 3 and earth so that you have a core availible to bring a neutral from the existing fitting to the switch position

you can only take it from one place, the same place the live comes from.

so in your case you want to add some lights in your kitchen then run a new cable from the existing lights.

its easier to understand than borrowing a live also its safer if you do everything from scratch
