Guys,

Recently moved into a semi detatched house. this has a seperate living room/dining room.

Now some of the houses in the street were built with a through and through living room/dining room, others had an internal wall made of honeycombe plasterboard.

Also, some of the houses in the street have had this conversion done through the years by various builders etc etc.

What i would like to know is who would be able to tell me what kind of beam i need?

The wall only supports a wall of the same type above it, it does not have any load from the roof placed onto it.

Anyone got any advice (or someone in the glasgow area)???

Honeycomb board is a lightweight, non-structural partition and can be removed without need to support anything above it as it is not supporting anything.

The wall upstairs should be supported off the floor joists

ive been told that the partition wall is called a "paramount partition"

anyone any furhter ideas?

paramount walling is purely for dividing or partitioning spaces and is not structural or loadbearing.
