What does it say under that brown wire (where the 'glare' is) - is it "110V" or something like that? If so, it looks as if it is probably an auto-transformer, being used to reduce the supply voltage (230V-240V) to 110V (or whatever).

The transformer winding DC resistances will measure close to 0 ohms; the AC impedance will be almost entirely inductive reactance.
