Live Earth Reverse

Well what an evening this turned out to be.

Managed to find some torch batteries so mains power off & start again. Had another new back box in "stock" put that in cleaned up one of the earth wires & connected as stock - 3 lives in the live terminal, three neutrals into neutral terminal & the one earth that was in the the socket/face plate back into the earth terminal.
The other two earths to the earth terminal in the back box. This is exactly as it was before I started.

Fastened everything up including the face plate to the socket. Tester in, power on, no lights or sound. Flicked the switch to on & two green lights for both sides (twin socket). Tested every socket again & all showing two green lights.

I will try to get some pictures done & post them here of how it is now set up & has been for years to see what you think?

That doesn't make it right. It's relying on the screws to provide the earth.

You've already been advised, 4 wires into the earth terminal on the faceplate, 3 for the system cables and one for a 'pigtail' that connects to the box. If so doing causes a "fault" then the fault lies elsewhere
