Hi

I have a 3 storey shop,
Ground floor shop, 1st and 2nd floor residential.

Can i do a loft conversion without planning permission?
(it's a shop so not sure if same rules as house apply)

Its semi detatched, both sides of roof upright so will only need a dorma.

Thanks

So what are the regulations regarding a loft conversion on a shop?

Bear in mind the 2 upper floors are residential, plus a high loft space.

You need to apply for planning permission. The regulations are all of the regulations applicable for a loft conversion.

The regulations are i can add 50 cubic metres under PD.
This doesn't apply to my type of building?

Ground floor shop with 2 floor residential above plus loft.

Well, I suppose you *could* apply for change of use of the whole building to a single family home. Then do the conversion under PD. Then apply to convert it back to a flat above a shop - but this is a high risk strategy and ill-advised. So, just submit a planning application.

Is it more difficult to get planning permission for loft conversion on his type of building?

None of the other 5 shops in the parade has a loft conversion.
