login timeout

I'm using a temporary system, so I don't want to select the "remember me" option.

So, fair enough, I have to explicitly log in on each visit, but why do I get timed out if I don't navigate away from the site?

because **** happens!!
it does it intermittently on mine even logging me off after changing page sometimes

Because the cookies expire. If they didn't, you'd never get logged out.
