Redoing kitchen so pulling ceiling down and doing Downlights.

So....above is bathroom and landing. The bathroom is solid tiles other than under the bath then chipboard floorboard. Landing also chipboard.

When they say "Make a JB accessible" how possibly can you do this with a newly plastered ceiling and this sort of config?

Would using Wagos in daisy chain be better?

It means don't put them in places that are not accessible.

However, nowadays you can get Maintenance Free Junction Boxes which may be put in hidden areas - but still better not to have any, anywhere unless absolutely unavoidable.

Change it to WAGO connection then it won't need to be accessible as they are maintenance free joints.

... provided (or so the manufacturers say) they are the right type of Wago connectors and housed in a Wagobox.

As others have said. Forget old fashioned junction boxes. Switch to wago and you'll never look back. Stuffing 3 wires in a screw terminal... never again!

Do you all mean a Wago connector? I've used these for daisy changing in my loft and I love them.

As I said, certain Wago connectors, when housed in a WagoBox, are said to be acceptable as 'maintenance-free' (and therefore do not have to be accessible). However, that is not true of Wago connectors in general.

Not much use to you in the bathroom, but under the landing (and anywhere else where you've got chipboard flooring), a solid board cutter is good for gaining access.

Why are you wanting to daisy chain junction boxes?

The Wagobox must also be cable tied shut as stipulated in the manufacturer's instructions to achieve the MF classification.

That is seemingly true, although I personally struggle to understand why that should be necessary if the box is going to be installed in an 'inaccessible' location - it is far more sensible requirement when the box IS accessible (in which case it does not need to be 'MF')

It's probably a requirement of BS 5733 which serves to illustrate what a farce MF junction boxes are.

So it seems! As I said it seems 'AAF' - I can see the point in requiring an enclosure not be "openable without the use of a tool" when it is 'accessible', but the argument becomes much weaker when it is not accessible (hence not really 'openable', with or without the use of a tool!).
