Hi all,

I am having issues with my Miele wt945. There is no water going into the drum. I can hear and see water going into the detergent dispenser drawer and can also hear the water being constantly being drained/pumped out. I have cleaned out the filters (fluff filters, water filters)and even fitted a new triple inlet valve, also checked the water in and drain hose -which are both clean and good. If I put on a rinse or wash cycle i get the flashing red light for the "Water inlet/drain indicator".. but can hear (see if I open the drawer) the water going into the drawer but instantly being pumped out the drain hose - seems like it is bypassing the drum.
Anyone have any ideas what I need to check next?
Thanks in advance

Maybe water drain valve fault.
Water in gets pumped out

I don't know. I have worked on family machines with a dump valve but I don't know what your machine has.

Look at part online and try find it in the machine.

There are loads of videos on YouTube so I watch them for help

I googled miele wt945 water drain valve - only comes up with the triple inlet valve.. and the other part i found is the pump. Which given that it is pumping water out fine surely isn't faulty??

where is that located on the washing machine please?

In a washing machine, all that retains the water in the drum, is that the pump is not pumping it out. The drain pipe from the machine, rises much higher than the drum water level, so it stays there by gravity, until pumped out. There is no drain valve, or need for one.

The only valves, are water inlet valves. Drain pump running when it should not be, could be due to a number of reasons, my favourite would be the drain relay welded up, on the controller pcb.

It sounds as though you have a leak that is triggering the anti flood and making the pump run. Most Miele washing machines have a solid base and an anti flood switch like dishwashers. Pull the machine out and tip it back the water in the base should spill out. Then find the possible leak.

Tip in either direction? Is the anti-flood switch at the front or back of the machine usually?
Thank you

The bottom of the machine looks and feels dry. I did tip is back and nothing came out - tipped it back at about 30 or so degrees
The only time the drain pump is not on/running is if I put it on a drain cycle, then the machine works as it should, it drains and finishes without any errors and no constant drain pump running.. but then after a while even though it is not on any programme the pump kicks up again.. the only way to stop it is to switch the machine off.
If i switch on the machine, even though it is not in any programmes/modes, the drain pump starts running

Lots of pressure actuated valves in a WM, if one failed to close at the end of a cycle the pump will stay in draining mode.

how to i look into this, is it an easy thing to check, fix or replace.. or is it time to look at buying a new machine now?

Thank you

I tend to agree with Harry that you have a faulty control board. The only other thing I can think of might be the pressure switch. These are usually connected to the pump by a thin tube and sit on top of the drum or are fixed to the rear of the drum assembly. If it is the type that has the tube then suck and blow into it and if it is a mechanicl switch you will hear it click on and off. It may however be a sensor type which you will have to monitor for continuity or voltage. Not familiar with Miele machines so can only make generalised suggestions

How easy it is check the control board or is it just a case of getting another control board and try changing it to see if works with another control board? Is the control board easy to change/replace or should i just cut my losses now and get myself a new machine?
If so, what brands are good ones to go for these days without having to spend huge amounts on another miele or other expensive brand/model.. £400 or less ideally.
Thanks in advance

As with most things, it depends entirely on your experience in such matters. If you would not recognise what you are looking at, then it is not only very risky, but pointless too. It can be a very expensive process, throwing parts at a fault, and hoping.
