I say it means nothing and is not true, try and prove me wrong if you like

I think what it means is that, in reality, for every 17 illegal migrants who land in the UK, only one will be returned to France. I know they are technically separate issues. But that seems to be the point being made by the BBC reporter.

the problem is thousands are travelling into Europe and then dispersing across the continent, some get to France to cross to UK

Each country wants its stopped, they dont want migrants entering their country, but no country can collaborate with any other country because that means they would have to agree to accept an agreed quota each
