I recently watched a tv series on dinosaurs. In the tens of billions of years they roamed the earth, they had to deal with weather extremes.

To which I'd say: People like you mean that if they went as hard on it as they should they'd never get elected. Plus Brexit has distracted us from doing anything for almost a decade.

The move to strip electric vehicles from their zero VED band had to happen, after all they still want to collect VED. They could have exempted high value EVs from the VED surcharge but the Tories didn't want to fight the Telegraph articles it would spawn.

I can't remember if it was you asking about zero VAT on green materials, which is a good point and has been discussed at length. Most of them have dramatically reduced VAT and some exemptions, but since you don't really care about details, just soundbites, it's not worth going into more depth.

Well if the world is boiling because of ICE cars the alternative that is going to save mankind should not be taxed the same - its stupid nonsense.

They're not.

My EV is taxed at £300 per month less than my previous car (2 litre diesel).

And my monthly "fuel" bill is close on £200 less now.

And iirc I only pay 5% on the leccy that charges it, rather than the %age that I was paying on the diesel.


So, EVs are taxed at a far lower rate than ICE.
