My shower mixer tap popped off when I was turning it (hot water end)
I turned off stop cock and tried to put it back on. I can't get it back on securely, it always seems loose.

I can tighten the screw at the end but that makes no difference as that only seems to hold the valve inside the chrome casing. The valve or thermostat and the chrome casing/tap mechanism won't attach to the pipework tightly.
I'm not sure if I'm missing a part? When the water squirted out, a component could have got washed down the plughole.

Probably the rubber seal between the shower hose and the main body of the tap, plenty of spares available to fit

When reattaching the tap, ensure that all components are aligned properly. Sometimes, if the valve isn’t seated correctly, it can cause a loose fit.

Thanks for the replies.
I've tried aligning many times and I still can't get it on properly. There's always a small gap between the tap and pipe.

Just Before the tap came off I head a click sound and when I looked at the tap that's when the gap first appeared. I imagined there'd be some kind of clip or spring?
I'm not sure why a rubber seal would just click out of position on its own?

Send a photo to Triton or shower doctor, get it identified then search for a spares diagram with exploded view.

Sorry I thought I uploaded images with the post but I can't see them. I'll try again...
