I'm siliconing my recessed shower this weekend. The tray is dary grey and the walls light grey, so I want to use dark silicone round the tray and light on the vertical corners to the ceiling.

What is the best way to do this without making a mess in the 3-way corners?

Can I silicone the tray first and let it cure, then do the uprights, or is there an issue with the wet vertical silicone bonding to already cured tray silicone?

IMO, best practice is to remove and thoroughly clean off all traces of the old silicone before applying any new silicone.

To apply the new silicone I would start tight into the bottom of the "3-way corners" and work up from the corner.
Then immediately apply the "tray silicone".
Then smooth the silicone off.

I would just go round in the light grey all round, the colours will bleed into each other. use a silicone tool like this and do it all in one go, new silicone doesn't stick to cured silicone very well.
