Mobile Internet access

Anybody use it.

Been offered unlimited access and free modem for laptop for £25 a month, thinking about it but was wondering if any of you have any experience.

Ask yourself - how many times during the day would you actually use it?

(Apart from logging onto the various Fora. )

Wondering more on the availabilty of signal and speed.

Used to have the Orange data card on my laptop, but this was in the 'old' days of just 3G and was still pretty slow.

I'm now going to get the T Mobile connection as this is 1.8Mbps if you are in their 3.5G coverage, which fortunately a lot of Norwich is.

If you download and buy a little program called Radmin, you can view your home PC and access this in real time whilst on the move.

This way you can store each service details instantly whilst on site rather than having to synch it when you get home.

Ive only had my iphone a few weeks but have used it several times just for a quick reference. I dont carry hardly any MI and i wont use my laptop at work.

So when all you need is the meaning of a fault code and no MI. Just google it, 10x quicker than ringing up!!

Cheers Dave, it was A N Other provider that made the offer, im with T-Mobile, willhave to give them a nudge, whats 1.8bpmxyz thingy? is that fast. Im a numb as a Shires P1$$ stone when it comes to techno stuff

1.8mbps is the fastest mobile connection at present, equivalent to standard home Broadband.

I have the Three network broadband dongle. £15/month 3GB/month fair usage policy.
In essence, same as Vodafone option, but cheaper.
I use it when travelling around. Ok, so far, it falls back to standard 3G if hi speed not available, so, as long as you have a signal, you have T'internet,
Better than roaming WiFi account (Cloud, BT openzone etc).

We're lucky to even get a consistent voice call with them around here at present.

They have more cells than anyone but the network just doesn't work, yet they deny any problems.

key word here is "upto".

So expect around 1Meg in general

Not a hope in hell of getting anything like 7Mb wireless from Vodafone or anyone else.

As has been said, expect 1Mb maximum.
