We're used to the Resigners lying about Turkey being close to joining, and about the cost of membership, and about immigration, and about spending the "savings" a hundred times over.

Now this:
"The chiefs of some of Britain’s biggest employers have threatened legal action against the official EU Leave campaign, after it included their corporate logos in a taxpayer-funded referendum leaflet implying that they supported Brexit.

Top executives of
General Electric, Unilever and Airbus wrote to Vote Leave claiming that it had misused public funds and used the logos “for propaganda purposes” when, in fact, they supported Britain’s EU membership."

Why is it that the resigners are so happy to invent and circulate these fraudulent fantasies?

"In their letter to Vote Leave, Paul Polman, chief executive of Unilever, and Mark Elborne and Paul Kahn, UK heads of GE and Airbus, respectively, said that their companies had been used “for propaganda purposes in order to imply our support for exit from the European Union. That is not our position; on the contrary we believe that — for jobs and investment — Britain is better off in Europe.”

They said the “misrepresentation” of their businesses and the use of their companies’ names was “highly misleading to British voters, and an act of bad faith” by Vote Leave.

Vote Leave declined to comment.

Toyota, whose name and logo are also used in the leaflet, issued a statement reiterating the company’s support for remaining in the EU and making clear that it was considering legal action.

Nissan and Toyota had already complained to Vote Leave about its use of their logos in publicity material.

Mr Kahn said: “I was shocked and dismayed to see my company’s name and logo being used as propaganda for the Leave campaign. We do not support leaving the EU, and our position is widely known.”

Mr Polman said: “The use of our company name and trademark in this way is a clear attempt to mislead the British people. Unilever does not support Vote Leave and does not advocate leaving the European Union, and never has.”

Mr Elborne said: “We are very unhappy with the unauthorised use of our trademark by the Leave campaign. At no point was our permission sought, and it would not have been given had we been asked.”

As part of its public funding as the official Leave campaign, Vote Leave is allowed a free mailshot to every voter.

Amber Rudd, energy secretary, said: “Vote Leave have resorted to lying about British businesses because they know they cannot get their support honestly.”"

If you lie often enough and the tabloids have been doing it for years then the dumber citizens will believe it. That describes Mail and Express readers and UKIP supporters.

YES! Dumb tw@ts the lot of 'em!

All those "leavers" should be shot for the cr@p they have been peddling.

Stupidity beyond belief. To base a campaign like this on such obvious drivel should be illegal.

Boris Johnson, and Foxtrot Ice, says we’ll get a good trade deal with the European Union because Germany wants to sell us BMWs.

What he doesn’t say is that our exports to the EU are 13% of our economy, while their exports to us are only 3% of their economy.

So, we’d be the big losers from a trade war.

We need them more than they need us.

Boris also doesn’t tell you that many foreign firms, like Nissan, set up shop in Britain because we are a gateway to sell stuff to the whole EU. If we quit, Germany and France might try to grab our jobs by luring companies away from the UK.

Britain holds all the aces post Brexit.
wrong.

i dont know what jonston is on about you dont put tarrifs on your exports you put them on imports
germany has no control over any import duty we can put on there cars if we leave the eu

Surely, monetary values of imports/exports are all that matter.

We have a trading deficit with the EU so that 13% must be worth less than the 3%.

We are one against twenty seven so it would be even worse were the percentages equal; indeed they virtually cannot be.

A good example of figures to bamboozle people.

What he doesn’t say is that our exports to the EU are 13% of our economy, while their exports to us are only 3% of their economy.

Which equates to 100,000+ German jobs. Their trade Unions will not allow Merkel to shut down their production lines. She's also up for election again soon so will maintain the status quo.

But you aren't telling me that we hold all the cards, are you? Nobody except a few lunatic Brexiters have suggested that EU:UK trade would cease.

But suppose trade halved as a result of us resigning from the single market and refusing to follow EU rules and pay the fees for access (like Norway and Switzerland have to). Or due to a trade war resulting from us putting tariffs on imports from the EU. They wouldn't notice a 1.5% loss, they could start building minis in a European factory, and would seek to sell more BMWs into the new Eastern members. They could also fill any gap in the market left by the absence of UK-built Nissans, Toyotas and Peugeots. Would we notice a 6.5% drop in our economy? How many of our jobs would we lose? Once we lost our share of the EU market, how would we rebuild it? How many cars can Somalia and Khazakstan afford?

Did you just make up your 100,000 figure, by the way? Or was it calculated by German unions?

most off the car companies have plants in other eu countries apart from the uk
if there is a downturn they will lay off uk workers first because our poor workers rights mean its cheaper to fire or lay off a uk worker over italian french spanish or german or indeed most other well developed economies in the eu
thats why dagenham production went else where because it was cheaper to pay off uk workers than workers in other eu countries

Sadly "workers rights" (and environmental protection and attempts to prevent big banks going bust) are among the "red tape" which the right-wing half of the Brexiters want to cut.
