Hi all

Our house is 60 years old and I doubt it's been plastered in that time.
There are some key areas I need to sort out and I wondered if more than just plastering was needed to fix them up. I will get a professional in to do it but wanted DIYNot advice first:

Kitchen: uneven walls papered over and coving:

Landing: Artex, sloped roof and dormer window:

Bedroom: cracked ceiling:

Any advice on the work I should be looking to have done is appreciated.

Thanks

it’s hard to say from your photos but the boards look flat and the artex looks sound enough to skim over.
basically, if the boards are bowed between the joists or any of the artex feels or looks or flaky i’d overboard first or remove it all before skimming.
bear in mind there’s a chance your artex may contain asbestos and should really be tested first unless you intend not dusturbing it at all.
