so being an idiot, I ended up using my hands to stick the motrat between the bricks on the wall I just patched up ( most of what I tried to put in with the trowel ended up on the floor.. _

now my fingers are all pruny and feelkind of dry and tight...

what's the prognosis.? and what's the cure / remedy?

I'm guessing that the alkaline in the cement has something to do with it..?

Cement is one of the worst things you can touch with your bare hands. Being alkaline, it can burn the skin, and will crack/split the ends of the fingers etc,,, it will heal itself in the end but it will take a few days. The remedy,,, rub in some hand cream/vaseline etc. The next time use a trowel,,,, but if you must use your hands, wear a thin rubber glove (a handom). Tile grout is another thing that splits my fingers at the ends,,, but you will survive Coljy.

Roughcaster.

keep slapping plenty of e-45 cream on. they will split and dry out though.....now dont do it again!

I rubbed some vinegar on them and let it soak for a few mins..
then used some moisturising soap to wash off the vinegar.. seems to have done the trick..
still feel a little dry but no signs of cracking..
