Will that help? The install gets so far, then seems to hang.

Sorry. Didn't mean to sound roode.
I get as far as "Who Are You" and the progress bar gets level with the "BACK" button, then it just seems to stop.
Plus, the "FORWARD" button is greyed out so I can't click it.
I've posted on the ubuntu forum, and if that gets me nowhere, I'll try summat else.
Any further suggestions for free OS's?
Perhaps I'll re-open a previous thread in "SOFTWARE" and ask that there seeing as this is da "HARWARE" forum innit?

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!
It was as simple as changing a capital letter in a username to lower case.
Shame the installation screen didn't tell you that, mind...
I shall post this in Software: it might just save someone else much frustration!

Typical Ubuntu. It should never have accepted an uppercase character in a username.
