Moving electric car chargepoint to new house

Thanks. I may well do that.

Any chance you could link to anblanking plug? Have searched Screwfix and toolstation, but can’t see them?

Ah is that all I need? I have loads of those. I just assumed it would be a more specialised blanking plate if it were to retain the box’s IP rating, no?

Cheers

You'll be taking the cable away, so there won't be anything electrical in there to need an IP rating.

A box with a hole in the bottom is still IP13!

I’ll be taking the surface mounted armoured cable away, but the feed coming from the CU through the wall into the box will still be present? Surely the box needs to be water tight due to this?

Have you looked inside the top box?

It's more likely than the electrician stripped off about 2 feet of the armoured cable, so that the cores would reach directly to the CU terminals. Usually through a PVC conduit in the wall. I'd be very surprised to find any additional joint inside that box (aside from the armour), assuming that is literally directly behind the CU. They would only need to join it to T&E if the cable had to travel further along indoors to get to the CU.

For what it's worth, it has for me - and not only in Rocky's original post but also even in your quote of that post!

Kind Regards, John
Maybe he means the thing where you click on it and it takes you to the site, the pics from TLC but im sure they will be cheaper on ebay "20mm threaded blanking plug"

Maybe - but although I can see your picture. clicking on it does nothing for me, and nor is there anything else to click on.

Kind Regards, John

Strange regarding picture. All I see is a little box with [ img ] in it, and can’t click it.

Regarding looking inside the box, no I haven’t yet, that would’ve been far too sensible. It’s on the job list for today. :)

It's unusual for it to be this way around - it's usually me who sees placeholders rather than images, when most other people see the images, so this must be the exception which proves the (bizarre and annoying) 'rule'. I see this in the original post ....

... and this when I quote it ....
