I can only go by what my neighbour has told me in that she has used it a few times this season without an issue.

So mower will only start on choke.
Once started it runs for say 5 seconds & dies.
If I try to start it again then nothing. Need to leave it a few moments then starts on choke again.

It’s a Mountfield RV 40 as per attached photo.
I’ve briefly seen the carb & it’s the type with the float bowl with there is a 10mm bolt straight up the middle. There is also a 10mm bolt at an angle in the float bowl. I’ve undone this one to release fuel but starting issue is still the same.

Does it sound like carb problem ?

I will get some carb cleaner tomorrow but see what you advise beforehand.
Thanks.

Yep, work your magic again on the carburettor and I’m sure all will be well.
The screw on an angle is a fuel or maybe water drain.

Float bowl had grit etc in it.
Cleaned with carb cleaner & now fine.

Thanks
