I hate dogs anyway but absolutely despise pitbulls, think they should be banned outright.

Luckily this was the owner and not a bystander.

+ 1 respect to the cops on this occasion.

The dog is merely protecting who it percieves is the top dog in the pack, which is her. He probably bought said dog 'cos it's cool, but she's the one who feeds & caters to it's other needs.

If that dog perceived that he was attacking her, which judging by the bedroom, sheets, semi clothed etc, they were probably making whoopee, then he is toast.

Does anyone need to know how to disable the dog when your in the last chance saloon?

The squalid conditions these dogs are forced to live is appalling. Which is why their whole psychological make up changes.
There was one of these attacks a short while back where the mother dropped her baby into the jaws of the dog to save her son.
The dog was owned by her police officer sister.

One major flaw in that argument is what does a dog consider "squalid conditions" ?

Most dogs will just back off if you tell them alright alright, you are a good doggy, now calm down you gooood doggy, you are the boss. OK you win. Get pepper spray and hope for the best run!

Our biggest mistake is to think that dogs are like us. They aren't, they're like dogs.

I've yet to see one of these tragedies where the dog wasn't behaving like a dog, where it had gone rogue thru some kind of mental breakdown & suddenly decided that barking, biting & killing is what the voices in it's head really want.

The press & media are largely to blame.

Why anyone would want to home and care for such an unpredictable creature I can only imagine is due to some kind of inferiority complex or insecurity. I can see a woman perhaps wanting one for this reason but with a man in the home the dog only need act as an alarm.

Go on then?

My instinct would say to kick the dog in the ribs. I've never imagined it to be that difficult as the dog only has one mouth. So in theory there's 3 forms of attack (one arm, two legs) even if the one arm is disabled by the dog.

Cats are superior beings, and always a better choice as pets. Worst I've ever had is a slight scratch.

Plus they walk and groom themselves and don't poop on the carpet. And people still insist that dogs are more intelligent.

Dogs often behave like big bullies, if you want to stay safe, just don't look one eye to eye, that is coming your way, stop walking, put your hands in your pocket, and stay still against a wall, don't run, don't show fear, he will most probably just sniff your groin and walk on! Dogs wait for some kind of provocation, you only need to look into his eyes or mutter a word or move your hands, it is enough for him to launch on you.
Some dogs have already made their mind up, if they are going to attack you then nothing would deter them, just stay calm and be prepared to defend, don't hold a stick, they are very clever, even cats know when you hold a stick in your hands they all know you mean a threat.

A dog attacking a human to kill needs to bite your throat, it can only do this if it can reach. It will jump up but most likely try to drag you down. Do not confuse an attack to kill with a nip on the legs, dogs that are attacking to kill are a lot different to dogs defending a territory.

If this is your last chance & the dog is attacking to kill then you can instantly kill / disable it by grabbing & spreading apart its forelegs.

You cannot run but you can hide. If you kick out then you are giving the dog something to drag you down with. If you kick, hit or club the dog then you risk deepening the frenzy. If this is your last chance then make it count, kill the dog.

Worth storing in the memory bank, as gruesome as it is.

And whilst your reaching for the dogs legs it clamps its jaws on your arm right to the bone.
