The Salamander in-line 22mm corrosion guard (COR22) is a non-polluting electrolytic physical water conditioning process that protects a heating system from the formation of any corrosive product caused by oxidation. The inhibitor also protects against limescale encrustation and works without use of chemicals, salt or the need for any electrical power supply.

• Non-polluting method of oxygen removal from system
  
• Suitable for all closed circuit heating and cooling systems
  
• Electrolytic process begins immediately after installation
  
• Extends system life and maintains high efficiency

Seems they have taken their water treatment unit and put a new purpose label on it.

I think they work by having a zinc metal element inside.

But I cannot find any genuine comments on what it might actually achieve!

Your right...I think some sort of Zinc Oxide removes oxygen atoms.

Thougt you can't go wrong for £30, main protector is the x100

Thougt i spill the beans now...cost of labour was £550.
-Replacing old boiler
-Full power Flash (took few hours)

Turned out the plumber lived the end off the road from my place. Found him on the gas safe register.
Came to my house to give a quote. He is a Vaillant specialist but last few years he has been recommending Ideal logic's and recommended me to get the ideal vogue Gen2 or if I don't want an ideal... then get a vaillant. He invited me to his hse and check his own boiler...and it wasn't a Vaillant but a Ideal Vogue Gen1.

Since im a neighbour he gave me a discount. His minium charge for a boiler replacement is £800.

I personally think he gave me a really good quote.
What you guys think?

Hmm. a power FLASH....given it only took a couple of hours that's probably all it was...certainly no comprehensive power FLUSH. IMHO most powerflushing is pretty pointless..just jiggles the muck around and could actually make things worse.

Anyway you're probably far better with the Ideal than a Vaillant. Ideal were a hopeless lot for a long time....the verge of bankcruptcy and now being owned by a French lot has finally turned the corner. There's been a few issues but they seem to be a much improved manufacturer.

As for Feroili...check out the parts prices and iffy warranty, cheap boilers are funded by extortionate spares....

But then Rolls Royce work the same way....loosing a fortune on each engine they sell but making the money up on parts and servicing. Dumb business mentallity...just causes resentment down the line and lost customers.

The Salamander uses sacrificial metal. It needs replacing after 10 years. But does it do what they say? No feedback yet.

Not sure why you think power flashing would make it worse. The plumber took of the old boiler off from the wall. Then connected big hoses one on the CH Flow and one on the Return. Also added the Chemicals x800. Then closed all the radiators ; left one open and used his drill/Sds with a big round flat bit to vibrate the rads. The plumber done to every rad while the other rads where closed. He even done a reverse flow. And trust me the big magnet collacted alot of black sludge & pumping out the dirty water.

Whats your definition of a comprehensive power flush?
And why it also makes it worse?

The boiler has a built-in filling valve but i wanted to keep my existing filling loop..use the boiler one as backup

Take it there is a double check valve in the said filling loop

Yes there is a non return valve on the filling loop.

The price for power FLASHING, fitting the boiler and using X800 (like that cleanser) and low charge for the job, can see tears down the line as X800 kills pumps if system not flushed properly

The plumber even said im giving you a huge discount and that the minimum he charges for just a boiler replacement is £800.
But because i live on the same road, kind of looking after the neighbours.
Trust me after getting all the sludge and dirt out of the system, the amount of times he filled the system with clean water and then dump it, thats before the new boiler got connected, im sure all the chemicals was out of the system.
