What is the PTFE tape for? Would not have thought the threads needs sealing? Or is it for insulation!

Hi sorry for asking but please could clarify the problem here , is it the fact the earthing is just useless being linked to plastic piping or a dangerous set up .
I know may seem stupid question , but if you don't ask ?

I always use Boss White if i have to use screw thread connectors, just helps make a more reliable join.

Indeed, Boss Green or LS-X are the accepted products for potable situations now.

My point was PTFE tape is pointless on the threads of that type of joint. So if he can't get plumbing bit right what are the chances for electric bit?

It's a compression joint, the olive is compressed between the brass of the fixing and the copper of the pipe to form a watertight seal, adding tape to the threads serves no purpose to be honest.

on the threads no, but a wrap around the olive is often advised for weepy joins on the plumbing section..
