IIRC there was an overlap period of a few years between old and new colors, so old cable stock could be used up. 2004 sounds about right for the end of the period and 2001 sounds about right for the start.

Indeed, but the wording on that packaging suggests that it pre-dates 2004 by a bit - but, as I've said, in terms of MK products that may well be good, rather than bad!
I have just replaced all the odd and dirty sockets and switches in our bedroom with new MK (barring the 2003ish switch plates).
Having seen and installed the pre-production prototypes of Logic Plus, the latest variants are rubbish.
The screws are easily damaged, locating a screwdriver is not the easiest and they are very stiff to turn, almost to the point where you think the terminal is fully tight, but it isn't.
The pre-production accessories were miles apart, with good quality screws that ran smoothly.
They certainly have cheapened the range. IMO, MK would have been better keeping their premium position in the market, but they obviously got spooked when faced with a glut of cheap imports.
