I also didn't like the French being used before the English but i think it was a courtisy to the French president of the olympic comittee.

I think it's an international courtesy to the founder of the Modern Olympics, Baron de Coubertin, that the announcements were in French first then English afterwards.

Great opening ceremony, ended with the most successful musician to ever live!

I believe Mccartney was paid the grand sum of one pound to perform......as someone said, it was a pound too much.
