Oven has blown

Last night my wife turned the electric oven on, it triggered the main switch and everything went down, at the time we were usinf pretty much everything; iron, ketttle, TV...

We turned everything off and the oven came back on, but the oven wouldn't heat up again. The fan in the oven was going but no heat. It kept triggering the main switch again.

My question. Is this a big job? do I need a new oven? Do I need to contact an electrician or a cooker specialist? If anyone can identify what the likely problem is and explain it to me - then I can explain it to the expert to save time and make it sound like I know what I'm talking about.

Many thanks.

Sounds like the fan oven element has blown, you have not posted

Make
Model
Serial Number so help will be general if any.

Turn off power to the oven and remove the rear plate inside the fan oven cavity (usually held in with a couple of screws) you may see it obviously distorted or even exploded.

Not usually difficult to change as most are just held in with 2 or 3 screws.

I will take a look, good to know it is probably something minor. Thank you very much.

Should be similar to this, be aware you may need to remove oven to allow access to element wiring from the rear.
Don't pull too hard on the unfixed old element, the cabling may not be long enough to allow (dis)connection from inside oven :-
