Regarding the OP I can confirm everything he says but what he failed to say, maybe because the shop didn't tell him, was that after going home to place his order he would also have to pay a delivery charge of at least £5.99 depending on the item. Bigger things like washing machines attract a delivery charge of at least £34.95 It doesn't matter whether you get it delivered to your home or the shop, there will be a delivery charge to add to the cost of the item if you decide to give them your custom. I choose not to.
 
The Laptop I want is £50 more expensive at John Lewis.... I said to Mrs Bod that maybe they have the item on display to look as if they are cheaper than their rivals just to pull people in.
