Well folks, it's that time of the week again!

This week we have a hot press from a commercial printing works.

The knob on the side is a run timer to stop the machine being left on when not in use.

The black flex is the supply to the press.

No strain releaf for the flex, if someone pulled on it, it would be pulled out of the terminals & the supply cable looks a bit unsized for the press.

What is the total loading of the press?

Also how old is the press?

It was on a 13A plugtop, so something upto 3kW.

I think the flex was about 1.25mm²

No idea how old it is, apart from very! I'd guess at 50 or 60 years old maybe. Not sure if the heater plate is original to the press even.

Its amazing how people continue using things like that, even to an untrained person,it would not look safe.
Looks more like some sort of torture device

RF,
when do you publish the book?

We could all add a few snippets as guest entries or even dedicate a website

It does have a plug top on it...

And neither is a washing machine, but you may PAT test that.

OK, so instead of PAT test, has the machine been maintained in a condition to prevent danger or injury?
