Pint of Beer

Going to a working mans club for a surprise Birthday party tonight, I just called my mate to ask him what time....forgot it was a surprise so I feked that up...

On the plus side the drinks will be cheap as ****.

Been to many a beer festival and drunk many a pint without a head and they have been some of the best beers I've ever tasted.
Hmmmm, beer festivals. OK if that's your thing. What I mean by real ales are the hand-pulled beers that I grew up with, and which were everywhere in Manchester and thereabouts: Boddies, Holts's, Hyde's, Robinson's, Thwaites, JW Lees, Tetley's, Wilson's, Sam Smith's. These beers, when on form, were like heaven. Each one had its fans and its haters. That world has almost disappeared, although some of the beers live on in name only. The head on the beer is part of the drink, I know there are people at beer festivals who tell you to drink it headless - that's just wrong to me, but It's all personal choice. The modern idea of Real Ale is often something cloudy that tastes of grapefruit, raspberry or liquorice.... anything but beer.
Because this is a thread about what you get, when you pay for a pint of beer.
It is not a thread for you to disseminate your ethnic and racist hatred.
I bet you never buy your round. There'll always be an excuse.
Back in my day, every hour or so the landlord walked along the bar with a big stainless bucket. He tipped the drip-trays of all bitters and lagers into this - everything other than guinness and cider. Then this bucket was poured into the Tetleys barrel.
Years ago there was a legendary character at the local WMC who used to clean the place in the mornings in exchange for drinking all the slops. Dead now of course.

Not forgetting Worthington, Bass, Stones.
