Hi guys,

I've dug out for a concrete slab (DIY job, for a workshop) and I have 100mm of MOT1 and 100mm of concrete going down over the next couple of weeks.

With the compactor (vibrating plate type) how should I approach the surface water drainage pipes underground? I've renewed most with plastic although there is one clay pipe left. Where they meet the gully they're quite close to the surface now there's 200mm of top soil removed.

Am I best to stay well away with the compactor (1ft? 2ft?) or are the plastic pipes fairly resilient?

Cheers,
Chris

So long as you have surrounded them in pea gravel then crack on you will not affect the pipes. As for the plastic, you would need a fairly hefty impact/blow in order to split em.
